Almost four years since work started on the master plan for SAAS' STREAM building, its opening day has finally arrived and the building is full of life -- with students, robots, art, and excitement around every corner.
Last weekend people from around the globe gathered to participate in the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos, whose purpose is to raise awareness about the dramatic decline of some of the world's most iconic megafauna at the hands of men.
A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to once again visit Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest as part of a summer program that allows donors to get a closer look at the work they do in providing sanctuary to the seven chimpanzees in their care.
It's an intimate set-up with a casual, friendly vibe. There is a loud, eclectic playlist and Breaking Bad art in the restrooms. But the food is serious. Well, that's not entirely true; some of it is quite fun and playful, but all of it is beautifully presented, carefully curated, absolutely delicious, and at times mind-blowing.
I'm staring at the photos I took of our drinks and dinner at Chicago's The Aviary and Next Restaurant, and everything looks delicious and inviting. Why then did I leave the table feeling underwhelmed and dissatisfied with that night?
One of the best ways to take in all of the amazing architecture Chicago has to offer, while also learning a little bit about the city's history, is to take an architectural boat tour.
It's always great to get away on a long holiday weekend, using it as an excuse to make the quick trek up to one of our favorite weekend get-away locations: Vancouver, British Columbia. Other than some dinner reservations, we didn't have much planned for the weekend, which allowed our mood and the weather to dictate the rest; and what we ended up with was reasonable weather that didn't force us inside, along with some outstanding and memorable meals.
Even though my birthday was months away I always use it as an excuse to eat some great food. This year was a milestone I wasn't quite ready to admit to, so it required something extra special, and Willows Inn seemed like the perfect choice to satisfy my criteria.
For some time now we've been making regular pilgrimages to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge to capture the abundance of wildlife there.
