I'm lying in bed and my stomach is beginning a protest. It's not too bad yet, and as I'm lying there I hope that it will pass, but I can't stop thinking about how this may just be the beginning of something bad.
Towards the end of Dali's life when he was in very poor mental and physical health, he lived in the museum building, unbeknownst to visitors. I like the idea of how he might have silently moved about the building using a series of secret, voyeuristic opportunities to spy on his visitors.
Disfrutar received its first Michelin star in 2015, a year after opening, and in 2016 was named Best New Restaurant in Europe. I thought it would be our best meal in Barcelona, but for overall best experience it was outdone by our meal at Spoonik.
We gathered in the modern, open kitchen that looked out over Las Ramblas with our chef, Stefano Marcellini, who hails from Italy but considers Barcelona his home. He quickly went through the menu we would be preparing and all the steps for each dish so we would get an overview. It was a little overwhelming and I didn't know how we would remember everything, but there was no need to worry.
When The Cure began their 2016 tour, I heard reports of epic three-hour shows and that the band was performing at their peak. I got wrapped up in all the excitement and fell in love all over again.
Our first day trip began with a visit to Montserrat mountain, located fifty minutes west of Barcelona. Montserrat means "serrated" in Catalan and it's easy to see why this distinctive rocky range was given this name. The highest peak of Sant Jeroni is 1,200 meters above sea level and can be seen from far away.
